These photos by Huang Qingjun and Ma Hongjie are part of their ongoing project to document the insides of people’s homes across China. The artiss embarked on the project in 2005, and aim to release a book of 50 images later this year. What’s interesting about this project is the difference between what constitutes a home as they cover the country. China’s huge population is often portrayed as a homogeneous entity in the media, and indeed by their own government. This project highlights the differences between regions and means, but also shows what unites them in a disarmingly simple way.
